Bloody Hell, It's Hot!

Nothing better than to start out orientation week in the 100s (degree's F = 35-40 C) It was NOT pleasant.

Monday -
Before we left WI, I had signed up for a bank account here in Australia. This meant I had to set up a Identity Verification with the bank. Today was that day! Brian and I went off to campus to have an amazing sandwich with eggplant, basil, lettuce, sundried tomatoes, and more but I'm at a lost! It was super delicious, but everytime we have had a sandwich here all Brian and I can think of is WHERE IS THE MUSTARD?? It's an aweful shame that there isn't 'American mustard' anywhere! (after a week, we finally bought some from the store - so we are alright now). At campus we used the free internet and then hopped on the bus down to Freo. We went all the way to the Fremantle station, so much further than we go when we just go to South Beach. Freo is the most adorable port city! We spent like an 40-60minutes at the bank, the banker actually filled our water bottles for us because it was dreadful hot! almost 104 F! Then we laid in a park right across from the Fremantle station till 12:10 till we had to hop on the 99 Bus back to Murdoch! We immediately showered and fell asleep! We were going to meet my Vet School friend for lunch, but her twin daughters were really sick and stayed home from daycare so we thought it best to wait. Its an aweful conundrum when the heat makes you "buggard" (exhausted), but then its to bloody hot and humid to even sleep comfortably! Later when it was cooler, we walked to the market to get more ramen noodles and two more pillows [One of the best purchases so far]. After the market it was dinner, a walk through "Narnia" [the sandy pathways that lead from the village to campus! Its beautiful at night here! Just breathtaking!

Tuesday -
I really can't remember what happened. :D Just another great day in HOT HOT Paradise!

Wednesday -
We met up with my vet school friend and had a wonderful lunch on campus! We ended up talking for almost 4 hours! She is amazing and I think we are going to be great friends! We went for a walk, made dinner, watched a movie and went to bed! Again, it was near 100 with high humidity all day.

Thursday - VALENTINES DAY!
Happy valentines day to me - I got to spend 9am till 430 in Veterinary Orientation! Then a welcome BBQ from the biggest veterinary student association! Where we were surprised with hard pear cider and beer! It was delicious! Also we had an amazing free lunch with sandwiches and wraps! They was amazing veggie options! Again, just missing the mustard! Instead of going out to dinner, Brian and I went on a walk and discovered that campus has a HUGE nature reserve behind it. The lab farm intertwines with the nature reserve and its absolutely amazing! I cannot explain how much I love this school right now! this nature reserve is beyond HUGE and the campus farm is unbeatable! They have SOOOOOOO many animals that I am absolutely blown away! Murdoch is THE largest campus in ALL of Australia and its one of the only veterinary schools that have the campus farm on site! Plus the Vet clinic just had a 9 million dollar remodel a few years ago and have amazing state of the art equipment!

Brian and I will take photos of the nature reserve but today (Sunday) it was too rainy to bring the ipad out and it takes the best photos! I really want a professional Nikon like camera! That would be amazing because the ipad 4 gets really hot after using it too long and its too hard on it if you use it in 100 degree weather!

Details and pictures of the Wildlife park from Friday the 15th will have to wait! Sorry! :D I have to leave you something to look forward to! :D Because from here on out its going to a lot about Vet school! :D
