INVASION OF THE JELLY FISH!!

When you can see clear jellyfish through the water you know the water is UNBELIEVABLY clear! After a long debate Brian and I decided the best way to spend my early wednesday afternoon off of class (I get done at 1:30) was to go to the beach since it was CRAZY hot here again. This turned out to be a bad decision and should have went to the pool in the first place! First off we got on the bus at 3:00pm! WORST IDEA EVER!! it was so crowded from all the primary schools getting out of class and kids going home! After a very long and sweaty bus ride we made it to our stop and took a short 10 minute walk down to south beach. Upon arrival we jumped right in because the sand was way to hot to stand on! Brian dove all the way in and went to the deep water right away, but it takes me a lot longer to wade into water that feels freezing when the air is 100degrees! As I was inching my way in, I got up to my waste and was just marveling at how clear the water was that day! Like beyond transparent! it was crazy! However, this amazement afforded me the opportunity to see me surrounded, I mean SURROUNDED, by jellyfishies!! AHHHH... I very carefully but swiftly made my way back shore as I shouted to Brian who immediately followed. Come to find out he got stung at least in two spots, but said he barely felt it. We walked around the edge of the shore because there was MILLIONS!! and collected shells instead! Come to find out, when the wind comes from onshore and heads offshore, the jellies get stuck by the shore.. Interesting! One jelly got pushed up on shore and I touched his epidermis of the aboral surface which contained mesoglea. We decided to ride the bus back, grab some veggies since we were completely out of food, put food away and then went swimming in the pool to finally cool off! We finally got to go to the beach late friday afternoon and the waves were HUGE because the winds had shifted and the jellies were able to go back out to sea! :)

Enjoy my start of my seashell collection!

  1. Love the jelly fish pic! Very cool. The sea shells look like Florida's shells. Where is the pool, at the school?
